Isabel Umanzor, native of Santiago, Chile, discovered her love of music at a very early age. She began singing in church choirs, schools and festivals. She soon discovered a spirit for social activism as a pre-teen. Isabel began performing with various folk groups who were participating in cultural events which were politically motivated in opposition of Chile's regime. Intrigued by the study of language, Isabel received her degree in Spanish Language Education from the Bio-Bio University in Chillan, Chile. In 2001, after six years of teaching, Isabel left her position and moved to the United States.
